Miss Nee - Courtney

Born and raised in a very creative home in country South West Victoria, I was forever drawing, making or creating something. It wasn't until I started secondary school where I discovered a passion for sewing in my textiles class. I continued my love for sewing through Year 12 where I designed a gown inspired by the endangered Mission Blue Butterfly. The gown was hand dyed, embellished and wired to represent the butterfly's wings and habitat. I received top marks for the subject and won the 2012 Student Spotlight Design Awards with this garment.

After finishing school I followed my passion and completed an Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology at The Gordon. I graduated in 2015 and was awarded "Most Outstanding Student". The following year I made the move to Melbourne to work full time in a dance/costume fabric store, which eventually lead to a Costume Assistant role on the TV series Wentworth. From here I've gone from show to show working in different Costume Departments as an Assistant and Standby Assistant for several Australian Film and Television productions.

After a few years in the film industry the passion for designing and making my own garments had been put on the back burner and I realised it was time to launch my own small business 'Miss Nee'.  Here I could create unique garments for clients and still work in costume. Wanting to take the plunge into high end dressmaking I was accepted to attend The Paris American Academy's summer school in June 2019. During this time I was able to further refine my skills in couture techniques, corsetry and bustiers.

I love providing my clients with a positive dressmaking service where I help bring their dream outfits to life. I aim to make the process as seamless and relaxing as possible.
